England Made Me
All about England
The small village of Ambleside is situated in the southern region of the Lake District, on the northern edge of Lake Windermere.
Despite being so small, the village is one of the Park’s most popular destinations for visitors. This is because it serves as an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
But visitors are also attracted by the fact that William Wordsworth’s home for much of his life was at Rydal Mount, just a mile and a half to the north of Ambleside.
And halfway between Ambleside and the village of Grasmere is Dove Cottage, another house with strong Wordsworth connections.
