England Made Me

All about England

This 200-acre park on the south bank of the River Thames was opened in 1853 as the second non-royal London park.

The most famous feature of the park is the Japanese Peace Pagoda, which was built in 1895. It was built by Japanese Buddhists and contains 4 golden Buddhas surrounded by a Portland stone Pagoda. To add atmosphere there are some beautiful Canadian fir trees planted around it.

However, if this is too relaxing for you, there is always Adrenaline Village where you can indulge in some bungee jumping. This village is open at weekends.

Also in Battersea Park are a boating lake, a caf, various sports facilities and a Children’s Zoo. This zoo dates back to 1951 and is open daily from Easter until September, and at weekends for the rest of the year.
