England Made Me
All about England
Cheltenham Racecourse, located on the northern edge of Cheltenham, attracts thousands of visitors to Cheltenham each year. This is the UK’s principal steeplechase venue, and is a must for any racing fans.
And even if there is not an event being held when you visit Cheltenham, the Racecourse’s Hall of Fame museum contains an interesting account of the history of racing in Britain including past winners of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The Hall of Fame is open weekdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm and at weekends from 10am to 2pm. Admission is free.
The most important event in the Racecourse calendar is the three-day National Hunt Festival, which takes place each March. And of course the most important event in this festival is the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The town really comes alive during this Festival, but be warned - if you want to visit Cheltenham at this time of year, accommodation can be notoriously hard to find so book well (even up to a year) in advance!
