England Made Me

All about England

Bournemouth is renowned for its glorious parks and gardens, which actually cover around one sixth of the town.

Of these gardens, Compton Acres is particularly well known. It can be found on the western edge of Bournemouth, on the border with Poole.

The gardens feature such delights as an Italian garden, water gardens and a particularly glorious Japanese garden, all beautifully laid out.

It is also worth a visit for the fact that it is home to many rare plants, and lots of tropical and sub-tropical species that aren’t normally found in UK gardens.

Located in a sheltered position in one of Bournemouth’s characteristic “chines”, the gardens offer a secluded escape from the busier seafront.

Compton Acres are open daily between March and October, from 10am to 6pm or dusk if earlier. Admission costs around or adults.
