England Made Me

All about England

Hamlet is similar to Macbeth in terms of its use of the supernatural (ghosts, etc) as a plot device. Both are tragedies, and both are about the struggle for power.

They are, however, very different in length (Macbeth is Shakespeare’s shortest play, Hamlet his longest), inspiration (Macbeth is “inspired” – very creatively – from history, Hamlet is inspired from Danish legend and folklore), and the portrayal of the protagonist: Macbeth’s plot against the king is portrayed as evil, while Hamlet’s is seen as justified.
