Churchill was working in the foreign office in 1922 when Ireland managed to negotiate partial freedom from the UK. He held various posts but came to prominence when the pre war prime minister, Chamberlin came back from Germany having met Hitler in 1939 waving a piece of paper getting off the plane which was supposed to be Hitlers agreement not to invade England in return for the UK being cowards and allowing Hitler continue to take over Europe.

By 1939 Hitler had complete controll of France, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and pretty much the whole of europe. (except UK). UK was not a major military power and in reality germany was like the usa and britian like canada in terms of military power. All the other nations were so overwhelmed with the power of the germany military they handed over their administrations without a fight (Paris etc).

Weeks after the piece of paper waving return of Chamberlin, the Nazi’s without warning started to BLITZ london in the “Battle of Britian”. Amid the Carnage after the first weeks bombing (would make lebanon look like a walk in the park. Chamberlin resigned and instead of surrender to save life and hand over their administration, Churchill took over and the nationed tuned in to the wireless on the firs morning he addressed a very frightened nation with the “We shall fight them on the beaches, we shall fight them in the streets, WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER” speech that rallied an entire nation into a david and goliath battle. Churchill inspired a nation to fight back, kept morale high, did a deal with the americans for military equipment, (a deal by the way that only got it’s final payment in 2002) and ultimately kept the germans at bay. The radar was invented in Britian during this battle giving the allies an edge and the Americans ultimately joined the battle. Churchill convinced a nation it could win against the odds, even the queen after the palace was bombed.

It was churchill that turned the war along with the russians after hitler decided they would be easier than the brits.

He ultimately died of Syphilis,the great man of the last century!
