Classic Charlie’s Angels: 1970s Version
Halloween costume for a group of 3 girls. Be the hottest TV detectives ever: Kelly, Chris and Jill, otherwise known as “Charlie’s Angels”!
Surf the ‘Net for a picture of the 1970s Angels cast to check out their clothes and hairstyles, then hit the vintage or Salvation Army store to pick up your outfits. You might need wigs too, depending on what your hair styles are.
Here’s how the girls are supposed to look: Everyone wears platform boots or shoes, and your makeup should be ’70’s style, meaning blue eye shadow and pink lips.
Jill has shoulder-length blonde hair that’s feathered back in big waves. She wears bell-bottom jeans (any color) and a silk style shirt with a big collar. She can also tie a fluttery scarf around her neck in a loose knot for added effect.
Kelly wears a slinky silk style dress that’s about knee length or a little longer, with a skinny belt around the middle. She has long hair that’s straight, or worn in waves just like Jill’s, but it’s dark brunette. Kelly should carry a plastic gun.
Chris has red or brunette shoulder-length hair and she dresses like Jill.
Don’t forget to practice your “Freeze, bad guys!” poses before you go out!
Josie and the Pussycats
For a group of 3 girls. You are Melanie, Valerie and Josie, the girl-band from Archie Comics (and a recent movie).
If you’re sticking to the original Pussycats look, Melanie has long blonde hair, Valerie has short curly brown hair and Josie has a red-headed bob.
Make your own Pussycats outfits by buying orange catsuits or minidresses and pasting or Velcroing on big circles of white felt on the stomach and chest area to make the pussycat’s “bellies.” Then cut out lots of small black felt circles and paste them all over the rest of the outfits (everywhere except on the white).
Use orange felt to make pussycat “ears” and attach them to plastic headbands to wear. Make long tails out of felt and sew on, or make them with nylons stuffed with padding. Meow!
The Scooby Doo Gang
If you’ve got a gang of 5, you can dress up as Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby! Use your own clothes or go to a Salvation Army store for the groovy duds. Wigs (if you need them) can be bought wherever Halloween costumes are sold. Here’s what you have to look like:
Fred has blonde hair, and he wears blue jeans and a white long sleeved shirt with a red bandana tied around his neck.
Daphne has long red hair and she wears a thick green headband in it. Her outfit is a purple mini dress, purple stockings and regular shoes (you get a bonus for green shoes!).
Velma has short brown hair, thick black glasses and she wears an old orange or brown sweater and a pleated brown miniskirt with green knee-high socks and brown shoes.
Shaggy has shaggy brown hair (of course!) and wears a brown T-shirt and green corduroy pants with sneakers. Shaggy should carry a box of Scooby Snacks for his friend Scooby - make it by covering a cracker box with construction paper and writing “Scooby Snacks” on it with magic marker.
The person who’s going out as Scooby Doo should wear dark brown pants and shirt, with cut-out black felt circles glued onto the shirt and pants for Scooby’s spots. Scooby also needs a dog collar - pick one up at a pet store (make sure it’s not too tight!). Shaggy can feed Scooby his snacks throughout the Halloween party for extra effect.
