Here’s some ideas and tips on how to calm down piggettes from fireworks on Bonfire Night:
Guinea pigs are all very shy about loud noises and activity. Even the doorbell would freak them out at first. So,on Bonfire Night, you should-
1. Put the poor things inside for the night and cover the cage with a blanket or towel. The darkness will help them feel like they’re in a burrow and safe.
2. Hold them as the firework show is starting. They trust you (I hope) to keep them safe from harm. Once they understand that all the crazy noise isn’t harmful, it will be fine to put them back in their cages to enjoy the sparkles. Just make sure you check on them once in a while to make sure their anxiety hasn’t gone back up.
