England Made Me

All about England

I’m under the impression that a number of them will accept a GED in lieu of a high school diploma. Just like in the US, however, each school makes it own rules regarding acceptance of GEDs.

If you haven’t taken an SAT/ACT in the past five years (or you aren’t happy with the score you received), you are probably going to have to register for them and take them (again, perhaps) so you have some test scores to show (esp. with a GED).

Many colleges also offer “continuing education” programs of study for people who have taken a few years off from continuous education (like you, many joined the military). They should be particularly understanding of your situation and much more willing to assist you in any difficulties you might encounter.

In your application essays, you should make a note of why you left high school (patriotism and military service are pretty good causes), how you still went through the trouble to get a GED, and what you’ve learned during your stint in the army and how you’ve matured intellectually as a person.

Best of luck. You’re toughest issue, finances, is already out of the way.
