Museum of Welsh Life is located in the grounds of St Fagans Castle, the Museum of Welsh Life is situated about 4 miles west of Cardiff.

The Museum of Welsh Life is open daily from 10am to 6pm July to September, closing an hour earlier for the rest of the year.

First founded in 1948, the museum traces the history of life and culture in Wales from Celtic times right to the present day.

Covering over 100 acres the museum features numerous original houses and buildings from all over Wales that have been carefully moved and re-built here.

These include re-creations of craftsmen’s workshops, workers’ cottages, a chapel, a school and even a traditional Welsh working men’s club.

And there are also exhibitions of farm life, including native farm animals and even some rare breeds.

This is the place to come to experience Welsh culture for traditional festivals and Welsh customs are celebrated throughout the year, and even when there aren’t any special events you can expect to hear the Welsh language in use by the staff.

Attracting thousands of visitors each year, the Museum of Welsh Life is one of Wales’ most popular heritage sites. And it is considered by many to be one of the best open air museums in the whole of Europe.
