For those who don’t know, 221b Baker Street was the address of the world’s most famous detective - Sherlock Holmes. The real 221b Baker Street is now home to the Abbey National Building Society, but this museum more than makes up for any disappointment - and to make you feel better it claims the number as its own.

The ‘museum’ is dedicated to everything about Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous fictional character and there is atmosphere galore. There are three floors, which are all filled from top to toe with all sorts of Victorian memorabilia and various ‘artefacts’ from Holmes’ adventures including the stick that belonged to Dr Mortimer in the Hound of the Baskervilles and the club that killed Colonel Barclay in The Crooked Man.

All in all this museum is a must for fans of Sherlock Holmes - you can even sit in Holmes’ armchair!

The museum is open daily from 9.30am-6pm.There is a restaurant available, called Hudson’s after the detective’s landlady, where you can purchase typically Victorian refreshments.
