England Made Me
All about England
Stratford-upon-Avon, otherwise known simply as Stratford, is the second most visited place in the UK, after London.
This is, of course, because the town is famous the world over for being home to England’s greatest writer - William Shakespeare. And as a result it is a Mecca for all lovers of English Literature.
Today the town is dominated by all things Shakespearian with all manner of attractions relating to the Great Bard and his life, although some do have a somewhat tenuous link to the author!
Nevertheless, fans of the bard will love the town, and for many visitors to the UK a visit isn’t complete until you’ve “done” Stratford.
Don’t forget that with three excellent theatres this is the place to visit to see one of Shakespeare’s plays performed, so a trip to see a play is essential whilst you are here.
You should expect Stratford to be busy when you visit, with long queues to all the major sights. Try to visit in winter if you can, for the streets will be infinitely quieter then.
