England Made Me
All about England
Silk Street, EC2
Nearest Tube: Barbican
This huge arts centre in the Barbican district is home to three cinemas, two theatres, two galleries, a library, a concert hall. It also houses the Museum of London, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the London Symphony Orchestra. And if that isn’t enough it also plays host to a vast range of guest performers each year.
Some performances take place in the foyer, usually at 5.30pm on weekdays and at lunchtime at weekends, which are free.
But take note, this centre is notoriously difficult to find in the first place (even for native Londoners), and even harder to navigate around once you are inside, so leave yourself plenty of time to get lost!
