England Made Me
All about England
The Tate Gallery Liverpool, a subsidiary of London’s Tate Gallery, can be found in a converted warehouse in the Albert Dock.
It is appropriate that the city should have a branch of the Tate Gallery in it, for the London Gallery takes its name from its sponsor Henry Tate, a wealthy industrialist who also ran the Tate and Lyle sugar manufacturers - in Liverpool.
Often displaying internationally renowned works from the London collection, this is the premier art gallery of the north of England.
It is most famous for its modern and contemporary art collections, but it also holds temporary exhibitions throughout the year, many of which receive excellent reviews.
The Tate Gallery Liverpool is open daily except Mondays, from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free, except to special exhibitions - prices of which can vary.
